The 27th round of La Liga has finished, showcasing thrilling games, standout player displays, and unexpected results. Here is a recap of the La Liga matches from matchday 27.

Celta Vigo 1-0 Almeria

Celta Vigo increased their lead over the La Liga relegation zone to five points with a 1-0 win against Almería at the Estadio de Balaídos. This victory extended Almería’s winless streak to 27 games. With the lead and a player advantage, Celta Vigo comfortably secured the win, giving them a crucial five-point cushion above the relegation zone and easing the pressure on their manager, Benítez. On the other hand, Almería’s tough season continued as they remain at the bottom of the table, now 15 points away from safety.

Sevilla 3-2 Real Sociedad

Sevilla’s chances of moving further away from the relegation zone in La Liga received a significant boost with a 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad, who have only won one of their last six league matches. They have only earned nine points in their last 12 league games and face a tough match against Paris Saint-Germain midweek. On the other hand, Sevilla secured back-to-back home wins for the first time under Quique Sánchez Flores and have only lost once in their last six La Liga matches.

Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Cadiz

A rain delay in the second half and two late goals characterized Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw against Cádiz at Estadio de Vallecas. This result extended both teams’ winless streaks in La Liga to eight and 22 matches, respectively. The draw did not benefit either team, as it prolonged Rayo’s winless run to eight games, with three draws and five losses and extended Cádiz’s winless streak to 22 league matches, with eleven draws and eleven losses. Cádiz, the visitors, are currently five points away from safety, while Rayo is seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Getafe 3-3 Las Palmas

Getafe and UD Las Palmas had an exciting 3-3 draw at the Estadio Coliseum, with Las Palmas making a strong comeback. Both teams may not be happy with the result, especially Las Palmas who are five points behind Real Betis in the race for European football. Getafe, on the other hand, are in 11th place in the midtable.

Valencia 2-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid managed to come back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Valencia at Mestalla Stadium. This result extended their unbeaten streak in away LaLiga matches to 10 games. The match had a dramatic ending as the final whistle was blown just as Díaz was crossing the ball to Bellingham, who scored with a header into the corner. Madrid was understandably upset, and Bellingham even received a red card for protesting after the game. While Valencia may have been content with a point before the match, they will likely be disappointed with how they ultimately secured it.

Villarreal 5-1 Granada

Marcelino’s Villarreal continued their winning streak in LaLiga by defeating Granada 5-1 at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Granada, on the other hand, suffered their 14th consecutive winless match against Villarreal. Granada managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time through Theodor Corbeanu’s close-range volley. However, they have not won any of their last seven league matches and are now 10 points away from safety. Villarreal, on the other hand, are in a more comfortable mid-table position and are aiming to move into the top half of the standings.

Atletico Madrid 2-1 Real Betis

After a series of poor results, Atlético Madrid secured a much-needed victory against Real Betis, winning 2-1 and continuing their unbeaten streak against them to 10 matches with 8 wins and 2 draws. This win was a confidence boost for Atlético ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Inter Milan next week. On the other hand, Betis’ five-game unbeaten run was halted, as they are yet to secure a victory against a top-half team away from home this season.

Mallorca 1-0 Girona

Girona’s chances of winning the title took a significant hit with a 1-0 loss to RCD Mallorca, putting them seven points behind Real Madrid in La Liga. This defeat extended their winless streak in away matches to six, with three draws and three losses. The team has now experienced three consecutive away losses in the league for the first time since October 2022. On the other hand, Mallorca has climbed to 15th place and is now eight points above the relegation zone.

Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Barcelona

Barcelona missed a chance to climb to second place in La Liga and narrow the gap with leaders Real Madrid by drawing 0-0 against Athletic Club at San Mamés. Athletic Club has now gone nine league matches without beating Barcelona. This result extends Athletic’s winless streak against Barcelona to nine matches but keeps them in contention for a top-four finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season. Despite Real Madrid and Girona also dropping points over the weekend, Barcelona’s title aspirations are fading as they view this as a missed opportunity.

Osasuna 1-0 Alaves

Osasuna had to wait until the later stages of the second half to secure a 1-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés, with Ante Budimir scoring the winning goal. This win extended Osasuna’s unbeaten streak to four games with 2 wins and 2 draws which kept their hopes of reaching Europe alive. Alavés, on the other hand, remains in 13th place in the standings. Despite not being in immediate danger of relegation, they have now gone five games without a win (2 draws and 3 losses).
