Bundesliga Roundup, Matchday 7
Matchday 7 of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season featured exciting games and outstanding performances. Here’s the Bundesliga roundup from this round.
Union Berlin 3-1 Monchengladbach
Union Berlin climbed into the top half of the table by beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1. This loss extended Die Fohlen’s winless streak in the league to 14 games. Interim coach Eugen Polanski has yet to improve Gladbach’s situation, and the one thing that is clear at the club is that the permanent manager will face a difficult task in trying to maintain the status of the five-time Bundesliga champions in the league.
Wolfsburg 0-3 Stuttgart
VfB Stuttgart achieved a comfortable 3-0 victory away against struggling Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena. This win represents their first streak of four consecutive Bundesliga wins since February 2024. The visitors moved up to third place in the Bundesliga. On the other hand, a lackluster Wolfsburg team remains in 15th position and has not won a league match since the opening day, with two draws and four losses since then.

RB Leipzig 2-1 Hamburger SV
RB Leipzig extended their unbeaten streak in the league to six games with a 2-1 victory at home against Hamburger SV, who are still searching for their first away win since returning to the Bundesliga. Leipzig’s win maintains their perfect record against newly promoted Bundesliga teams, marking their 33rd win in 38 matches against such opponents. While Hamburg continues to struggle on the road outside the Volksparkstadion, Merlin Polzin is unlikely to be overly worried about his team’s performance in this match.

Mainz 3-4 Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen moved up to fifth place in the Bundesliga by defeating FSV Mainz 4-3 at the Mewa Arena, extending their record unbeaten streak in away matches to 37 games. Leverkusen have now secured three consecutive Bundesliga wins, with this fifth victory in seven head-to-head encounters providing an ideal preparation for their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain later in the week.

Heidenheim 2-2 Werder Bremen
Heidenheim came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen at the Voith-Arena, preventing Die Werderaner from achieving consecutive Bundesliga victories for the first time since April. The points were split, but the outcome does little to help Heidenheim’s standing in the league, as Schmidt’s team stays second from the bottom. Meanwhile, Bremen will be quite disappointed to settle for only one point.
FC Cologne 1-1 Augsburg
Augsburg missed out on consecutive league victories for the first time since March after Cologne fought back to secure a 1-1 draw at the RheinEnergieStadion in the Bundesliga. Augsburg’s struggles against newly promoted teams persist, as they have now failed to win in their last four matches against them.
Bayern Munich 2-1 Dortmund
Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory in the 113th Bundesliga Klassiker, defeating Borussia Dortmund and matching Dortmund’s German record of 11 consecutive wins in all competitions at the start of a season. As a result, Dortmund now trail Bayern by seven points. Showing strong determination to retain their title, Bayern maintain the longest unbeaten run among Europe’s top five leagues and have also ended a three-match winless streak against Dortmund.

Freiburg 2-2 Frankfurt
Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt ended in a 2-2 draw at Europa-Park Stadion, extending the home team’s unbeaten streak to seven games, matching their best run under Julian Schuster. This result is another blow for Frankfurt, likely affecting their confidence ahead of a crucial UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool later in the week.

St Pauli 0-3 Hoffenheim
Christian Ilzer’s TSG Hoffenheim team secured three important points in the Bundesliga’s battle for European qualification by winning 3-0 against St. Pauli away from home, extending their unbeaten streak to seven consecutive away games. Die Kraichgauer have moved up to eighth place in the league table, just one point shy of a European qualification spot at this early point in the season.
