Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s Hamstring Injury Piles on Misery for Manchester United

Published on:

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to be sidelined for an extended period due to a hamstring injury.

Wan-Bissaka, 25, missed United’s recent match against Brighton & Hove Albion due to illness but came on as a substitute in the 85th minute.

However, further assessment has revealed a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out of action for several weeks. This injury adds to United’s defensive woes, as they are already without left-back Luke Shaw due to injury, and the recently acquired Sergio Reguilon made his debut in Shaw’s absence.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s absence, the right-back position falls to Diogo Dalot as the only recognized option. This injury comes at a challenging time for United, as they have a busy schedule ahead with six matches in three competitions scheduled before the next international break on October 9.

United’s defensive concerns are compounded by injuries to other players, including Mason Mount, who is yet to return from an injury sustained against Tottenham last month, and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who missed the Brighton match due to a back problem. Additionally, Jadon Sancho is training separately from the first team, and winger Antony has been given time off to address allegations of assault made by former partners.

United’s next challenge is in the UEFA Champions League as they travel to face Bayern Munich in their first group stage match. Wan-Bissaka’s absence will be keenly felt, and United will need to adapt their defensive setup to cope with his absence.
