After Ajax’s terrible setback to PSV in the Dutch Cup final on Sunday, Erik ten Hag showed little interest in addressing his impending move to Manchester United.
Ajax had gained the advantage courtesy Ryan Gravenberch in the first half and had maintained it at halftime, but PSV had gained ground in the 50th minute thanks to Erick Gutierrez and Cody Gakpo. Ten Hag’s hopes of ending his era at Ajax with a league and cup double were dashed when the game ended 2-1 in Rotterdam. His summer transfer to Manchester United is yet to be finalized, although it is expected to happen soon.

Ten Hag, on the other hand, was not in the mood to discuss anything after the humiliating setback. “I believe now is the time to stop the press conference,” he stated when the subject of Manchester United was brought up. ”We hope he remains, but there are currently only two alternatives,’ Ajax technical manager Gerry Hamstra said before the final, throwing a monkey in the works of the presumption that Ten Hag will go.
“He is completely absorbed in the now. Erik is the only one who has control over his destiny. He’s old enough and wise enough to know what he’s doing. We sincerely hope he remains, but if he does not, we must be prepared for the second option.” Ten Hag is still widely projected to succeed Ralf Rangnick as United manager.
