Al-Hilal sign Brazilian winger Malcom from Zenit Saint Petersburg

On Wednesday, Al-Hilal, the Saudi Arabian club, announced the signing of Brazilian winger Malcom from Zenit Saint Petersburg, a Russian team.

“Welcome Malcom,” Al-Hilal posted on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The specific financial details were not revealed, but according to Zenit’s CEO Alexandr Medvedev, Al-Hilal was expected to pay 60 million euros for the transfer. Malcom is the fourth player to join Al-Hilal this summer, following the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Ruben Neves. 

Malcom, a Brazilian winger who previously played for Barcelona, was the leading goal scorer in the Russian Premier League last season with 23 goals, helping Zenit win the title.

In the past few weeks, there have been rumors of several well-known players potentially transferring to Saudi Arabia. Al Hilal, a highly successful club in Saudi Arabia and Asia, even attempted to sign Lionel Messi, but he ultimately chose to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. 

Al Hilal, with a record of 66 trophies and holding the most league and Asian Champions titles (18 and 4 respectively), is focused on strengthening their team after losing their league and Champions League titles.
