Alex Telles reunites with Ronaldo as he leaves Man United to join Al-Nassr

The Brazilian defender Alex Telles has departed from Manchester United and signed a contract with Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr until 2025, as announced by both clubs on Sunday.

Alex Telles, who previously won the Europa League while on loan at Sevilla, will now be playing alongside his former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at his new club.

The specific financial terms were not revealed, but according to media reports, it is estimated that Man Utd would receive approximately £6 million for the player.

“A new adventure beckons for @AT13Oficial. Thank you for everything and good luck, Alex,” United posted on Twitter.

Al-Nassr published an image of the defender posing with their yellow jersey, along with a video showing Ronaldo smiling in the background.

Since Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in a major deal last December, the Saudi Pro League has become a popular destination for players. However, Al-Nassr, who finished second in the league last season, has been prohibited by FIFA from registering new players due to unpaid debts.

These debts are reportedly linked to the transfer of Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa, who joined Al-Nassr from Leicester City in 2018. FIFA ruled in October 2021 that Al-Nassr still owed €460,000 euros to Leicester for Musa’s signing. Musa played 62 games for Al-Nassr, scoring 14 goals, before departing in 2020.
