Andrea Pirlo sacked as Karagumruk head coach

The Turkish top-tier team Fatih Karagumruk SK announced on Wednesday that they have terminated the contract of Italian coach Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo, who previously coached Juventus, had signed a one-year deal with the Istanbul-based Super Lig team last summer. He will be leaving his position with three games remaining in the current season.

“Since we can’t continue with Mr Andrea Pirlo and his staff next season, we gave them permission to leave soon hoping it will give them a chance to plan their future,” the club said in a statement.

Karagumruk, a team that advanced to the highest division of Turkish football in 2020, currently holds the ninth position in the league rankings.
