Ange Postecoglou has been strongly linked to taking over at Tottenham but the Celtic manager is not thinking about that at the moment
The Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, stated that he is not being sidetracked by the media’s rumors connecting him to the open position at Tottenham Hotspur. His attention is solely on the Scottish Cup final, where his team has the opportunity to secure a domestic treble.
According to reports in the British media, Tottenham Hotspur is looking to hire an Australian as a replacement for Antonio Conte, who left the Premier League club in a controversial manner after his outburst in March.
Postecoglou dismissed the reports as mere speculation and stated that they would not affect his preparations for the upcoming final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.
“This time last week it was a different story. It was somebody else linked. That’s just the way it works,” Postecoglou told reporters.
“It makes no difference to the way I behave or think or prepare. I didn’t wake up thinking about anything other than getting training right and making sure we are ready for Saturday.”
“Saturday means everything to us, everything. So it doesn’t enter my sphere that I am going to be distracted – as I hope the players wouldn’t be – by matters in their own lives.”
Postecoglou, who has a contract that is renewed every 12 months, stated that he has not considered what he will do after his time at Celtic. He also mentioned that he hasn’t thought about managing in the Premier League in the long run.
“This football club plays in the Champions League, like everyone else I want to be competing at the highest possible level, wherever that may be,” he said.
“That’s how I got to a World Cup with Australia because I wanted to test myself against the best teams in the world.”
“It (the Australia job) landed on my doorstep at the right time, because there’s so many things that need to be aligned for these things to happen.”
