Angel Di Maria set to leave Juventus with several MLS clubs and Saudi clubs interested in him
Angel Di Maria is expected to depart Juventus as a free agent after just one season with the team, according to recent reports from 90min. After his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, the World Cup champion from Argentina signed a one-year contract with Juventus last summer.
Despite a rocky start to his Serie A career, Di Maria’s performance drastically improved in the first few months of 2023 after the World Cup and was essential to Juventus’ march to the UEFA Europa League semifinal. However, negotiations for a new one-year contract extension have stalled, and Di Maria and the team have decided to split ways at the conclusion of the current campaign.
During his tenure at Juventus, Angel Di Maria’s form improved. After a challenging beginning, which included a red card for belligerent behavior in a loss to Monza, he excelled with standout performances. In February, Di Maria scored three goals against Nantes, and the following month, he scored the game-winning goal against Freiburg, all in the Europa league.
In his subsequent 14 games, Di Maria has not been able to make any goal contributions, especially during Juve’s crucial game against Sevilla. His form has ignited frustration amongst the club fans. Negotiations for a fresh one-year extension of Di Maria’s contract between his representation and the club failed as a consequence.
Due to the failure of contract negotiations, sources claim that Saudi Arabian and Major League Soccer (MLS) teams are interested in signing Angel Di Maria as he becomes a free agenct for the second consecutive summer.
The winger, 35, previously had successful stints at Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, two of Europe’s top teams, winning the UEFA Champions League with the former in 2014. As Di Maria’s exit from Juventus is inevitable, other leagues and teams looking to improve their offensive options have expressed interest in hiring him.
