Fiorentina have officially acquired the services of Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo from Juventus on a loan deal for the entire season, as confirmed by both Serie A clubs on Saturday.
The agreement also includes a provision to buy the player for €20 million in the future.
Arthur has recently come back to Juventus after spending a season on loan at Liverpool. During his time at Liverpool, he only made one appearance as a substitute and played for a total of 13 minutes throughout the entire season. His lack of playing time was due to fitness issues.
In the summer of 2020, he made a transfer from Barcelona to Juventus. However, despite initially playing regularly for two seasons, he lost favor and had to train alone before eventually moving to England for a year.
He has earned 22 appearances for Brazil, with his most recent one being over a year ago. He was a member of the national team when they won the 2019 Copa America.
Fiorentina ended up in eighth place in Serie A last season and suffered losses in the finals of the Coppa Italia and The Europa Conference League.
