Atalanta vs Juventus Review
At the Gewiss Stadium, Atalanta and Juventus played a 1-1 draw in their Serie A match, leaving both teams without a win in their last four games across all competitions. Following a loss in the Supercoppa semi-finals, both teams returned to league play last weekend with a draw, and neither showed signs of improvement at the start of this match, as there were no shots on target until the 25th minute. Although La Dea controlled possession, it was the unbeaten side in Serie A that came close to scoring twice before halftime. First, Yildiz’s shot set up Nicolás González, who curled a strike just past the post, and then Yildiz sent a volley from a corner wide of the target.
After a strong finish to the first half, Thiago Motta’s team came out aggressively at the beginning of the second half, launching four attempts in just four minutes. Following attempts from Yıldız, González, and Federico Gatti, Pierre Kalulu’s header from a corner hit the inside of the post and was miraculously cleared by Carnesecchi before the ball fully crossed the line. However, Kalulu quickly bounced back, seizing McKennie’s through ball and scoring to put Juve ahead nine minutes into the second half.
The home team responded well and nearly equalized around the hour mark when Lookman’s shot was blocked on the line by Teun Koopmeiners. McKennie and Éderson exchanged shots during a hectic phase of the match. Juventus appeared to have survived the pressure, but Atalanta managed to equalize with 12 minutes left. A deep cross from Raoul Bellanova was headed back across the goal to substitute Mateo Retegui, who headed it past Di Gregorio.
Atalanta nearly completed their comeback late in the match when Nicolò Zaniolo made a strong run through the Juve’s defense, but Di Gregorio made a crucial save to prevent a goal. The draw marks the end of Atalanta’s streak of 16 home games in which they had scored at least twice, while Juventus remains unbeaten in their last seven head-to-head matches. However, a missed opportunity in injury time by Yildiz resulted in Juve’s 13th league draw of the season.
