Barcelona vs Getafe Review
Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Getafe at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, marking their ninth straight home win in La Liga. Getafe came into this game in search of their first win this season. Getafe aimed to challenge the expectations set before the match, and they started the game in a positive manner.
Although the visitors began positively, it was Barça that opened the scoring first. Lamine Yamal set up Jules Koundé on the right, and David Soria could only deflect Koundé’s cross into the path of Robert Lewandowski, who finished expertly to net his seventh goal of the season.
After halftime, Barça increased their intensity, with Soria making an impressive one-handed save to deny Yamal’s long-range attempt. He continued to keep Getafe in the match with another fantastic stop, this time deflecting Raphinha’s free-kick after only spotting it at the last moment. Flick’s team struggled to extend their lead, and Eric García missed a chance to double the score when he shot over the bar from Raphinha’s free-kick. Raphinha then came close to scoring himself, but his diving header from Koundé’s cross went wide.
In the end, the Catalans managed to earn all three points, regaining a four-point advantage at the top of the standings. On the other hand, Getafe’s quest for their first away victory against Barcelona remains unfulfilled after 22 tries, as they suffered their third straight loss in away matches in the top division.
