Bayern Munich News Latest: Bayern Board postpone board meeting that could see Oliver Kahn fired
Bayern Munich has postponed a highly anticipated board meeting until after the season is over in order to avoid any distractions as they try to salvage a dismal season by at least maintaining their Bundesliga title.
When coach Thomas Tuchel took over for Julian Nagelsmann in late March, the Bavarians were still in contention for all three titles, but they now only have a chance at the league title. Bayern was knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City after an unexpected German Cup elimination and a home loss to Freiburg.
They momentarily lost the Bundesliga lead to Borussia Dortmund before regaining it last week with a victory against Hertha Berlin. Nevertheless, Dortmund is one point behind Bayern. There are four games left, and Bayern will go to 12th-place Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Bayern stated this week that it would postpone a board meeting scheduled for May 22 until after the season was over. Club executives were going to talk about the team’s recent dismal performance as well as the controversial club CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic’s recent choices, including firing Nagelsmann, which was heavily lambasted by supporters.
“The Bayern Munich board has set a new date of May 30 for its scheduled second quarter board meeting,” it said in a statement.
“It was rescheduled until after the season finale against Cologne (on May 27) so the club can focus on the sporting aspect in the decisive stretch of the championship.”
Under Tuchel, the Bavarians have been a disappointment, winning only one of their previous three league games. Off the pitch, there was some encouraging news this week as goalkeeper Manuel Neuer intensified his rehabilitation exercises after breaking his leg in December and expressed confidence in their title hopes.

“The title is now again in our own hands,” Neuer, who is expected to return next season, said on the club website. “I am certain that in the end it is us who will be champions.”
Bayern is striving for an unprecedented 11th straight league title.
