After a disastrous 2022 FIFA World Cup run that saw the Selecao lose to Croatia on penalties in the quarterfinals, the Selecao parted ways with Tite.

Instead, Brazil is expected to appoint a foreign coach for the first time, with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti frequently mentioned for the position.

However, the CBF has refuted a recent story that said Ancelotti would assume the position at the conclusion of the European club season.

The statement said: “The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informs that the news released this Friday (10/02) that the coach of Real Madrid, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, is the new coach of the Brazilian national team is unfounded.

“President Ednaldo Rodrigues maintains the statements given on Wednesday, after the drawing of the matches for the Copa do Brasil. At the time, the official ruled out speculation, saying that the matter is dealt with transparently and that the coach chosen will be announced at the right time.”

Ancelotti recently denied conversations with the CBF at a press conference while representing Real at the FIFA Club World Cup.
