Manchester United’s winless streak in the Premier League reached six matches after they were defeated 4-3 by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, allowing the home team to move into the top half of the table. Kevin Schade had two opportunities to score for Brentford early on, first sending a cross just wide while Altay Bayındır was out of position, and then attempting to score at the back post, only to miss the goal. However, United managed to take the lead with their only shot of the first half, as Alejandro Garnacho assisted Mason Mount, who scored his second goal for the club.

The Bees were able to turn the game around before halftime, as Mikkel Damsgaard’s shot deflected off the unlucky Luke Shaw following a chaotic long throw from Michael Kayode. Schade then scored the goal he had been threatening, heading in a cross from Christian Nørgaard at the back post. Brentford could have extended their lead as well, with Bayındır saving Schade’s attempt and then expertly stopping Nørgaard’s close-range header. To their credit, United improved at the start of the second half, with Mount taking two shots that didn’t pose much of a threat.

However, Kayode’s long throws continued to trouble the Red Devils, and one was flicked on dangerously before Yoane Wissa narrowly missed at the back post. Brentford’s increasing pressure paid off when Schade scored his second goal, connecting with Bryan Mbeumo’s whipped cross, and shortly after, Wissa added a quick fourth with a tap-in. United created some tension towards the end of the match when Garnacho skillfully curled a shot into the top corner from outside the box, followed by a shot from substitute Amad Diallo that slipped through Mark Flekken’s legs.
