UEFA Champions League: RB Leipzig vs PSG live
RB Leipzig welcome French giants Paris Saint-Germain to the Red Bull Arena for round 4 of this year’s UEFA Champions League group stage games. The match kicks off at 08:00 pm(GMT) with Swedish referee Andreas Ekberg set to officiate proceedings. A win for either side will be crucial in their quest to qualify for the knockout stage.
RB Leipzig sit bottom of group A with no point after three games. In their last five competitive games, Leipzig have won twice, drawn twice and lost the other. Their last game came away at Frankfurt over the weekend, when they drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga. With six goals scored and eleven conceded in three UCL games this season, Leipzig need to be more robust in other to increase their chances of qualification.
PSG sit top of group A with seven points. In their last five competitive games, the Parisians have won three, drawn one and lost the other. Their last competitive game was against Lille in the league, when Pochettino’s men came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against last season’s Ligue 1 champions. Yet to win an away game in the UCL this season, PSG could cement their place in the next round of the competition if they manage to beat RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig and PSG have met five times over the past few years. PSG have won three while Leipzig have won two. Their last meeting was in the reverse fixture this season’s Champions League group games where PSG won 3-2, courtesy of two second half goals from Lionel Messi. A late penalty miss by Kylian Mbappe would have increased the lead by one but the French attacker could not convert from the spot.
Goals are expected to be scored by both teams. Both teams have scored six in three UCL games this season but Leipzig’s eleven goals conceded shows how vulnerable the Germans are in defense. PSG are expected to edge past RB Leipzig narrowly with both teams expected to play good attacking football.
