Champions League: Real Madrid vs Chelsea live
Preview
Real Madrid and Chelsea are scheduled to meet for the third year running in the UEFA Champions League when the English side travel to the Spanish capital on Wednesday night. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm(GMT) with François Letexier from France in charge as the center referee. With both clubs struggling to make the desired impact in their respective leagues, a chance to progress into the next round of the UCL is more than welcomed.
Real Madrid have proven again this season why they are the most successful club in the Champions League and the defending champions as well. Carlo Ancelotti’s men won in both legs against Liverpool in the 1/16th round, securing a famous 5-2 win at Anfield to book a place in the quarter-finals. However, on the back end of a disappointing performance against Villarreal in La Liga, Los Blancos must perform at their best over two legs to secure a place in the last four of the competition.
Despite struggling in their domestic competitions, Chelsea are enjoying a good run in the UEFA Champions League as they play their third quarterfinals in as many years. The Londoners won on aggregate against Borussia Dortmund in the 1/16th round despite losing the first leg 1-0 at the Signal Iduna. With Frank Lampard back in charge of the squad, Chelsea have all to play for in today’s match as they hope to put behind their poor performances over the past few months.

Head-to-head
The last five meetings between Real Madrid and Chelsea have seen two wins for each side and a draw. Over the last two years that both clubs have faced off in the group stages of the Champions League, the winner of the tie has gone on to win the competition.
Prediction
Real Madrid are always strong favorites to win the UEFA Champions League over the last decade. With huge performances en-route to their win over Liverpool in last year’s final, coupled with their performances this season, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have what it takes to go all the way to the finale.
Chelsea however are a team in transition as they have the names to win a big game but are yet to gel properly. A very competitive match should be expected at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium today with goals likely to be scored at both ends. However, a win for Real Madrid is the most probable result.
