Chelsea Completes Signing of Defender Axel Disasi from Monaco

Chelsea Football Club has finalized the signing of defender Axel Disasi from AS Monaco.

The 25-year-old French international has inked a six-year contract, committing to Stamford Bridge until 2029.

The Blues secured Disasi’s services amid competition from other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United. The deal, reportedly worth around £38.7 million, adds another strong option to Chelsea’s central defensive ranks.

Mauricio Pochettino, the newly appointed manager at Chelsea, has been proactive in shaping his squad during this summer’s transfer window. Disasi joins a list of notable signings, including Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo, and Diego Moreira. Additionally, young defender Levi Colwill has been rewarded with a new long-term contract.

Disasi’s arrival comes at a crucial time for the Blues, as the team faced a setback with a long-term injury to Wesley Fofana and the departures of experienced defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta.

During his three-year spell at Monaco, Disasi showcased his talents in 129 appearances and scored 10 goals across various competitions. Last season, he demonstrated exceptional consistency by featuring in every Ligue 1 game, making 49 appearances in total.

His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the French national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Disasi debuted for France during the tournament and appeared three times, including as a late substitute in the final against Argentina.

With the signing complete, Chelsea fans eagerly anticipate seeing Disasi in action. The 6-foot-3 defender could make his competitive debut for the club when they kick off their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at home on August 13.
