Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially announced the signing of Italian midfielder Cher Ndour on a five-year contract.
The 18-year-old talented player joins the Ligue 1 champions on a free transfer, having allowed his contract with Benfica to expire. Ndour becomes PSG’s sixth signing this summer, joining the ranks of Lucas Hernandez, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, and Lee Kang-in.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Ndour stated, “It’s a really special feeling. I’m feeling a lot of emotions, but first of all, it’s a great feeling of joy. Paris Saint-Germain is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and there are a lot of great champions here, so it’s a real honor to be able to join this family.”
Having represented Atalanta BC at the youth level and later moved to Benfica in 2020, Ndour showcased his talent and potential. He played a vital role for Benfica’s B team, contributing to their triumph in the UEFA Youth League and the Under-19 Portuguese championship during the 2021-22 season. Ndour’s notable performance included a goal in the 6-0 victory against Red Bull Salzburg in the final of the UEFA Youth League.
Despite reported interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, Ndour opted for PSG, citing the opportunity to play alongside his esteemed compatriot, Marco Verratti. “Marco Verratti is a great player and a role model for me, especially as we play in the same position. I’m going to try to learn as much as I can from him,” Ndour expressed.
As Ndour joins PSG’s talented midfield, he will compete for starting spots alongside notable players like Manuel Ugarte and Marco Verratti. PSG’s midfield also includes Carlos Soler, Fabian Ruiz, and Vitinha.
PSG have already assembled a talented squad this summer, and will be hoping that Ndour can be a key part of their success in the years to come.
