Manchester City secured their third straight away victory by beating Crystal Palace 3-0, extending their unbeaten streak in Premier League away head-to-head matches to 11 games. The first significant chance came 15 minutes in when a clever pass from Adam Wharton set Yéremy Pino free, but as Crystal Palace’s Gianluigi Donnarumma went down early in the City goal, Pino’s shot struck the crossbar. Oliver Glasner’s team had the momentum and came close again when the returning Ismaïla Sarr sent a cross across the six-yard box, but Jean-Philippe Mateta was unable to connect with the pass.

Opportunities were scarce in the first half, with neither team creating many clear chances. City’s first significant attempt came from a set-piece, as Phil Foden curled a shot around the wall, but Dean Henderson managed to push it to safety. However, a goal always seemed inevitable for City, it was just a question of when, not if, and Erling Haaland delivered his usual finish by rising highest at the far post to head in Matheus Nunes’ cross.

After the break, Palace recognized the need to attack, and their efforts nearly paid off when Wharton struck the post from outside the box. Tijjani Reijnders came close to doubling City’s lead, forcing Henderson into an impressive one-handed save, but City didn’t require much longer to secure the win. Foden, who has stepped up his game this season, was once again instrumental, driving through the middle of the pitch before firing a shot into the bottom corner.

Palace fought back in the final moments, and by pushing forward, they left themselves vulnerable defensively, and City caught Palace off guard when Savinho broke free but was fouled by Henderson inside the penalty area. Haaland stepped up to take the penalty from 12 yards out and calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner, capping off another outstanding day in the capital for City, who are two points behind Arsenal. Meanwhile, Palace missed the opportunity to return to the top four, though they remain just two points behind.
