Dani Alves Has Been Arrested Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Published on:

Police in Barcelona detained Dani Alves on Friday amid reports that he had sexually abused a lady in a nightclub restroom.

The public prosecutor’s office asked that the former Barcelona and Brazil right-back be detained and not given bail until he provided the Mossos d’Esquadra police with a statement.

According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the investigating judge would consider that application as well as a civil lawsuit filed by the lady who made the complaint when deciding whether to keep Alves behind bars while investigations are ongoing.

Dani Alves, 39, has also suited up for Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain, and Paris Saint-Germain. He spent a second stint at Barcelona last season before joining Pumas UNAM of Mexico.

The event under inquiry is said to have taken place on December 30 in the evening.

Dani Alves denied abusing the lady in a video supplied to the Spanish television station Antena 3 earlier this month.
