Darwin Nunez has withdrawn from Uruguay’s squad

Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, has withdrawn from Uruguay’s team for their forthcoming friendly.

Against Japan on March 24 and South Korea on March 28, respectively, the 23-year-oldwas named to Uruguay’s team to partake in the friendly games.

However, on Friday, both Liverpool and the Uruguayan Football Association made the announcement that Nunez would not be joining his international teammates.

The former Benfica player is reportedly recuperating from an ankle injury sustained in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss against Real Madrid, according to sources from Uruguay.

Nunez has made 33 appearances in his debut season at Anfield and has scored 14 goals and provided four assists. Only Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in more goals for Liverpool players.
