In an event held at the headquarters of the French Football Federation, Didier Deschamps, the national team’s coach, has unveiled the list of 23 players set to participate in the upcoming matches.
- France will continue their Euro qualifying campaign against Ireland.
- Didier Deschamps has released his squad for the upcoming games.
- N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba did not make the squad despite being fit.
The first match is against Ireland on September 7th at Parc des Princes, a part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Following that, the France squad will face Germany in a friendly match five days later at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.
Notably absent from the selection are N’Golo Kanté and Paul Pogba. Deschamps has chosen to maintain continuity, acknowledging the team’s strong start to the qualification campaign (with 4 victories) during the March and June gatherings. Injuries prevent Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku from making the cut, though Ibrahima Konaté’s presence is confirmed, despite concerns about his recent muscle injury.
Among the midfielders, Adrien Rabiot replaces Jordan Veretout, and Boubacar Kamara, who has performed well with Aston Villa, is also included. William Saliba, recently recognized in the Premier League’s team of the year, rejoins the squad, along with Lucas Hernandez, marking his return to the French national team.
Upfront, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Olivier Giroud, Marcus Thuram, Kingsley Coman, and Randal Kolo Muani, who awaits his transfer to PSG, make up the attacking options. The goalkeeping trio consists of Mike Maignan, Alphonse Areola, and Brice Samba.
