Dortmund Latest News: Dortmund coach, Terzic, hopes the team continue their positive run
According to coach Edin Terzic, Borussia Dortmund aims to maintain the positive energy from their previous 6-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg as they compete against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday in their pursuit of their first Bundesliga title in 11 years.
With three games remaining in the season, Dortmund is currently in second place, trailing Bayern Munich by only one point. On Saturday, Bayern will be playing against Schalke 04, who are Dortmund’s fierce rivals from the Ruhr region.
“We only look at us. We worked our way into this flow against Wolfsburg and we tried to carry it through this week,” Terzic told a press conference.
“We had a very intense training session yesterday. We will ease up today and pick it up again tomorrow. Then it’s about showing what we are able to do.”
“For us there is one common goal and we are happy that it is such a tight race, the tightest in years, and that it is not yet over.”
Although Dortmund has been dominant in their home games, scoring an impressive 18 goals in their past four league matches, they have faced challenges in maintaining a steady performance.
Terzic will not have Jamie Bynoe-Gittens available for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury that required surgical intervention.
“Last week he fell on the shoulder. He was operated on yesterday. He will be out for the next weeks and months,” Terzic said.
Dortmund is striving to win their first Bundesliga championship since 2012 and are relying on Bayern to make mistakes in their upcoming matches. On the other hand, Gladbach is currently in 10th place and has no more objectives to pursue heading into the final stretch of the season.
Asked whether that could influence their opponents’ game, Terzic said: “That does not interest me at all because there is still a lot at stake for us.”
“Everyone wearing the Gladbach shirt will want to win the game. We know we need a good performance to win it.”
Terzic also stated that any assistance from their opponents in Munich on Saturday would not affect his planning.
“It is a thing I cannot influence,” Terzic said. “We have to win our three remaining games before we can think of anything else and if we get help from them (Bayern’s remaining opponents) I don’t care if it is Schalke, Leipzig or Cologne.”
