Nuno Espirito Santo at the brink of losing his job after Manchester United defeat
Espirito Santo started the season well the Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League until the the first international break in September. Santo was appointed head coach of Tottenham earlier this season after Jose Mourinho was sacked half-way through last season.
Clearly, Nuno Espirito Santo was not on top of Tottenham’s list as Simone Inzaghi was the first until there was complications regarding his signing. Spurs looked to Antonio Conte and even current Everton boss Rafa Benitez before finally settling with Santo.
Spurs’ performance in all competitions have dropped significantly; they are currently 3rd in their Europa Conference League group table with 4 points and 8th on the Premier League table with 15 points.
According to several reports, Nuno’s future is yet to be determined and it is likely that he could be sacked. Spurs have lost 3 games in their last 5, clearly showing that there is something wrong somewhere. Before Spurs’ game with Manchester United, Nuno Santo was already in a hot position and the devastating home defeat only made matters worse.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Sporting director. Paratici has listed Antonio Conte has his number one choice since last summer but there was never an agreement. As to whether Nuno Santo would be sacked, it is yet to be communicated but reports claim that his job is more than in danger.
