Juventus 1-1 Sevilla
Juventus and Sevilla squared battle in the Europa League on May 11th, 2023. The game was held in Turin, Italy’s Allianz Stadium. Both teams had scoring chances over the course of the tightly contested encounter. Youssef En-Nesyri scored for Sevilla in the 26th minute to give them the lead. Prior to halftime, Juventus attempted to tie the game, but Sevilla’s defence held firm and thwarted the home team’s advances.
In the second half, Juventus came out with increased vigour and made two replacements, replacing Fabio Miretti and Filip Kostic with Federico Chiesa and Samuel Iling Junior, respectively. They kept trying to advance, but Sevilla’s defence stood solid. Both teams made replacements as the clock started to run out in an effort to choose a winner. In the 72nd minute, Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic was dismissed for collecting a second yellow card. In the 81st minute, Juventus made their last change, bringing on Dusan Vlahovic to replace Arkadiusz Milik.
As the minutes passed, the game grew more heated and several players were given yellow cards. In the final minute of regulation, Juventus’ Federico Gatti was able to tie the score, earning his team a point. Overall, it was a fiercely contested game in which both sides gave everything they had.
Sevilla and Juventus will square off once more in the upcoming round of games. In Seville, Spain, the second leg of the match will be played. Both teams will be vying for a spot in the competition’s final.
AS Roma 1-0 Bayer Leverkusen
A exciting Europa League football encounter pitted AS Roma against Bayer Leverkusen on May 11th, 2023. The game, which took place in the Stadio Olimpico, was marked by tight play on both sides. Despite many solid scoring opportunities for both teams in the first half of the game, no goals were scored. Bayer Leverkusen replaced Kossounou with Bakker in the 36th minute, their first change of the game.
Leverkusen’s Andrich received a yellow card in the 50th minute of the second half, and Diaby received another one in the 57th. Mancini of AS Roma and Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen both received yellow cards in the 58th minute. Bove’s goal for AS Roma gave them the lead in the 63rd minute.
Bayer Leverkusen attempted to build a comeback after falling behind by making a number of lineup changes. They ultimately failed in their attempts to score, though. Throughout the course of the match, AS Roma also made a number of replacements. In the 76th minute, Wijnaldum replaced Edoardo Bove, while Andrea Belotti took the place of Dybala.
In the 76th minute, right before Roma made their first substitute, Abraham was shown a yellow card. In the waning moments of the game, Bayer Leverkusen substituted Amiri for Andrich, and Roger Ibaez was also shown a yellow card for Roma. Roma won the game by a score of 1-0.
