Everton transfer news: Weghorst had a fairly successful loan stint at Manchester United where he helped them win the EFL Cup
According to reports, Wout Weghorst, who is presently on loan at Manchester United, is being considered for a move to Everton. After the Burnley striker’s loan period at Old Trafford, the Red Devils do not plan to activate their option to buy him permanently.
Weghorst’s time at Manchester United hasn’t been as successful as hoped, with only a few goals scored in his 31 games for the club. Everton, on the other hand, have seen the Dutchman as a potential remedy to their goal-scoring problems after a difficult year in which they just avoided relegation and found it difficult to score frequently.
Wout Weghorst left his one-season loan at the Turkish team Besiktas in January to sign a temporary contract with Manchester United. Sadly, the 30-year-old striker had trouble having an effect, scoring only twice in 31 outings. Notably, he didn’t score in the Premier League but did help the squad defeat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
Everton had a dismal season, just avoiding being relegated for the second straight year. With only 34 goals scored in 38 league games during the 2022–23 season, the team’s poor goal productivity was clear. Although England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin plays for Everton, his injury problems limited his availability during the season. Everton is aggressively looking for additions to strengthen their front line in light of their attacking flaws.
Wout Weghorst is now anticipated to join Burnley, a freshly promoted Premier League team. With an astounding 101 points, the Clarets won the Championship, finishing ten points ahead of second-placed Sheffield United.
Weghorst initially transferred to Burnley from German club Wolfsburg in January 2022 for a rumored transfer price of £12 million. With only two goals in 20 appearances, he had a far smaller influence at Turf Moor, as Burnley was relegated from the Premier League in the 2021/22 season.
