FC Manchester City News: Pep Guardiola has undergone back surgery and is expected to be absent from his role until after the international break next month.
The club revealed that Guardiola had been experiencing severe back pain for some time and traveled to Barcelona for an emergency procedure, which was successful. He will now recover in Spain.
During Guardiola’s absence, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will take charge of all first-team training duties and lead the team on the touchline for the next two Premier League fixtures. These matches include a game against Sheffield United and another against Fulham.
Guardiola’s surgery comes at a time when Manchester City has made a strong start to the new Premier League season, winning their opening two games against Burnley and Newcastle United. The team also recently won the UEFA Super Cup, beating Sevilla on penalties.
Juanma Lillo, who rejoined Guardiola’s coaching staff earlier this month, will take on the responsibilities of managing the team during Guardiola’s recovery period. Guardiola’s return is anticipated after the international break, and City fans will hope for his swift recovery as the team aims to continue its successful start to the season.
