Manchester United midfielder Fred has completed his move to Fenerbahce, officially ending his five-year tenure at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian international joined Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 and has made a total of 213 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.
The transfer fee for the Brazilian’s move to Fenerbahce is believed to be €10 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons, making the deal worth a total of around £12.9 million. The 30-year-old midfielder had one year left on his contract with Manchester United.
Fred expressed his gratitude to Manchester United and its fans on social media, describing his time at the club as a “true dream” and expressing his conviction that he always gave his best in training sessions and games. He thanked the club for the opportunity and stated that he would forever remain a Red.
Fenerbahce, one of Turkey’s biggest clubs, welcomed Fred, and he shared his enthusiasm for being part of their history. He expressed his desire to contribute to the team’s successes and make the fans happy.
Fred’s departure from Manchester United follows a period of uncertainty about his future at the club, and he was informed that he is unlikely to play a significant role in the upcoming season under manager Erik ten Hag.
This transfer allows Fred to continue his football journey with Fenerbahce, where he will look to make an impact and contribute to the team’s ambitions.
