Hakim Ziyech’s move away from Chelsea keeps falling through after he failed another medical at Galatasaray
Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Galatasaray has reportedly been stalled after the Chelsea forward reportedly failed his medical. Reporter Wilfred Genee of Dutch TV broke the news, stating that Ziyech’s proposed transfer has been delayed because of unreported medical issues. This is the second time the 30-year-old Moroccan has encountered a similar situation.
Prior to this, Ziyech’s transfer to the Saudi club Al Nassr was unsuccessful because the club’s medical staff kept finding a recurrent knee injury. Ziyech’s hazy fitness status puts Chelsea in a difficult situation because he still has two years left on his Chelsea deal. He can turn into an undesirable liability if the club is unable to secure his move. Mauricio Pochettino signaled Ziyech’s potential surplus status within the team by excluding him from the US preseason tour prior to this development.
The 30-year-old’s struggles at Chelsea were clear from his few appearances in all competitions last season, as he made just 24 appearances and contributed three assists. This failure comes after earlier unsuccessful attempts by Ziyech to transfer, including a possible loan agreement with Paris Saint-Germain and a planned move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Ziyech has shown his talent on the international stage, putting up outstanding performances for Morocco, despite his difficulties at the club level. With numerous transfer chances, his departure from Chelsea appeared to be inevitable, but now that a recent medical test has failed, his immediate future is uncertain.
