Harvey Barnes has completed his move to join Newcastle United

Newcastle United has officially completed the signing of winger Harvey Barnes from Leicester City. The 25-year-old has inked a five-year contract with the Magpies, with the transfer fee reported to be around £39 million.

Barnes, a product of the Leicester academy, is considered an exciting talent in English football. Last season, he emerged as Leicester’s top scorer, finding the net 13 times in 34 Premier League appearances. His impressive performances caught the eye of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, who expressed his delight at securing the winger’s signature.

In an interview with Newcastle’s official website, Barnes expressed his excitement about joining the club and being part of a successful team. He described Newcastle as an “attacker’s dream” due to their high-paced and physically demanding style of play, which suits his attributes.

Howe also spoke highly of Barnes, admiring his technical abilities and goal-scoring prowess from wide positions. The manager believes that Barnes will bring a different element to Newcastle’s play and contribute significantly to the team’s performance in the upcoming season.

Having spent 16 years at Leicester, Barnes departs the club with the gratitude of fans, teammates, and staff for his contributions during his time there. He leaves with an FA Cup and Community Shield triumph, and his departure marks a new chapter in his career as he prepares to face new challenges at Newcastle United.

Barnes is set to join his new teammates in Philadelphia for the Premier League Summer Series pre-season tournament, with Newcastle scheduled to face Aston Villa at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday.

His arrival at St James’ Park comes as Allan Saint-Maximin is rumored to be nearing a permanent move to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
