Hugo Lloris has been excluded from Tottenham’s preseason plans

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has been granted permission to skip the club’s pre-season tour in order to explore potential transfer opportunities, the club confirmed. The decision comes after reports that the 36-year-old goalkeeper, who has one year remaining on his contract, is open to leaving Tottenham this summer.

Lloris, a former France international, expressed his desire for new challenges and hinted at the possibility of a departure in an interview with French newspaper Nice-Martin in June. However, he also acknowledged his existing contract with Tottenham and the uncertainty that comes with the world of football.

The experienced shot-stopper, who has been with Tottenham for 11 years, will not be part of the squad for the club’s pre-season Asia-Pacific tour. Instead, Lloris will remain in North London while his agents explore potential transfer options for him.

Lloris has been a mainstay in the Tottenham lineup since joining from Lyon in 2012, making 447 appearances for the club across all competitions. He holds the record for the most games played by a non-British player in Tottenham’s history. However, his form dipped last season, and he made a Premier League-high four mistakes directly leading to goals.

While Hugo Lloris still has one year remaining on his contract, Tottenham has signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli, indicating their willingness to part ways with the veteran goalkeeper during the current transfer window.

Lloris has expressed his desire to return to Nice, where he played for four years before joining Tottenham. Paris Saint-Germain is also rumored to be interested in bringing him back to his homeland. Additionally, Inter Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia have been linked with potential moves for Lloris.

Tottenham’s pre-season tour will see them travel to Australia, Thailand, and Singapore, with new head coach Ange Postecoglou leading the team. Despite ongoing speculation surrounding his future, star striker Harry Kane will be part of the squad, along with new signings Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon
