Inter vs Atalanta Review
Inter Milan continued their unbeaten run in the Serie A season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Atalanta. The Nerazzurri were in control throughout the match at the San Siro, extending their unbeaten streak to 17 league games.

The home team started strong, and after Matteo Darmian missed a good opportunity at the back post, they took the lead just three minutes into the game. Marcus Thuram’s cross into the box deflected off defender Berat Djimsiti’s foot and found its way into the net, catching goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi off guard. Hakan Çalhanoğlu then had a powerful free-kick saved, but Nicolò Barella soon increased the lead with a stunning volley, connecting with a dipping ball from outside the area and sending a curling shot into the top corner.

La Dea was eager to respond, as Davide Zappacosta nearly scored when Yann Sommer made an impressive save to deny his powerful shot from the edge of the area. Mateo Retegui then missed the rebound by shooting over the bar. Shortly after, Retegui had another opportunity but again failed to find the net, as did Lazar Samardžić, leaving the away side unable to close the gap before halftime.

The second half kicked off similarly to the first, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan narrowly missing the target as Inter sought a third goal. Just moments later, Simone Inzaghi’s team got what they wanted when Thuram scored with the outside of his right foot after Atalanta failed to clear a ball into the box. Within eight minutes, Thuram netted again in a similar manner, tapping in his fourth goal of the season after receiving a pass from Mkhitaryan.

This effectively ended any remaining resistance from Atalanta, who were still recovering from their loss to Torino the previous week. The home team had a fifth goal disallowed when Federico Dimarco scored from an offside position late in the game, but it was inconsequential since the outcome was already decided. Inter has now gone 13 matches without defeat against La Dea, a streak that dates back to late 2018, and this match marks La Dea’s joint-heaviest league defeat since their 7-1 loss to the same team in March 2017.
