Italian football association under investigation for amateur youth competitions

Published on:

The antitrust authority of Italy has announced an investigation into the Italian football association (FIGC) regarding the management of youth tournaments.

The FIGC is alleged to have limited the ability of other sports organizations to hold competitions for young players. The dispute arose from a disagreement over a tournament in the Campania region during the 2021-22 season.

On Wednesday, representatives of the anti-trust organization went to the FIGC offices to look for records.

These investigations may lead to penalties or other solutions, such as modifications to the organization’s procedures. The antitrust agency usually concentrates on business operations.

The FIGC did not have an immediate response to the matter.
