Juventus have made an appeal against their Serie A points deduction

Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) has confirmed that Juventus has formally appealed their Serie A point deduction of 15 points.

Also, according to CONI, former Juve board members Fabio Paratici, Pavel Nedved, and Andrea Agnelli are among those who plan to challenge suspensions handed out by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in January.

Juventus’ chances of making the Champions League were severely damaged when they were penalized 15 points for alleged violations in past transfer transactions.

Prior to the punishment, Massimiliano Allegri’s team was thought to be a title contender. Now, they are seventh in Serie A and 10 points behind the top four.

Juventus promptly declared their willingness to file an appeal, and according to a statement issued by CONI, that challenge was formally filed on Tuesday.

Allegri’s club would move up to second place in Serie A with 50 points if Juventus were to recover the 15 points that were docked from them, but Napoli would still retain a massive 15-point advantage at the top.

As a result of a separate investigation into claims of tax fraud, which the Bianconeri have denied, the whole Bianconeri board, including president Agnelli, vice president Nedved, and managing director Maurizio Arrivabene, all resigned from their positions in November.

Involved parties in Juve’s transfer business have received lengthy suspensions from Italian football, with Agnelli’s suspension lasting two years and Nedved’s punishment lasting eight months.

Both men have since filed appeals, as has Paratici, the managing director of Tottenham who was given a 30-month suspension for suspected transgressions during his 11-year tenure at Juventus.

The future of Paratici with Spurs is uncertain because the FIGC had asked UEFA and FIFA to uphold the suspensions.
