Juventus vs Manchester City Review
Juventus secured an important 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, marking their sixth consecutive unbeaten match against the English side. Both teams have struggled recently, leading to more mistakes than typically seen in such a high-stakes encounter as they vied for possession early on. While Manchester City dominated the ball, Kenan Yıldız took the first shot of the match in the 20th minute, narrowly missing the bottom corner from a distance, and later attempted to set up Dušan Vlahović with a pass that he was unable to control.
After the 37th minute, the visitors finally began to create opportunities for Haaland. However, Manuel Locatelli blocked his shot following a fortunate bounce, and Michele Di Gregorio quickly closed down the chance after Kevin De Bruyne delivered a brilliant pass, as Haaland attempted to chip the ball over him. After the break, De Bruyne again set up a chance, but Federico blocked İlkay Gündoğan’s shot. Shortly after, Vlahović managed to outjump Joško Gvardiol and powered a header that just crossed the line despite hitting Ederson.
City responded well but couldn’t find an equalizer when Bernardo Silva’s shot struck Danilo, and Ederson awkwardly dealt with a dangerous cross from Yıldız. De Bruyne then sent a shot wide before Di Gregorio made a spectacular save against Gündoğan as City pressed the hosts. Juventus capitalized on their counter attacks, with American substitutes combining, as Timothy Weah crossed for Weston McKennie, who scored with a powerful volley to extend their lead.
Juventus managed to secure their first win in five games across all competitions, climbing to 14th in the UCL standings and only two points away from the top eight. On the other hand, City has only one victory in their last 10 competitive matches and is currently in 22nd place, just one point above 25th-ranked Paris Saint-Germain.
