Juventus will miss out on the Conference League after they made an agreement with UEFA to be sanctioned for one season
According to reports, Juventus and UEFA have agreed that they will voluntarily withdraw from all next European championships. This choice guarantees that they won’t be penalized and that they will continue to be eligible to play in the lucrative UEFA Champions League beginning in the 2024–25 season.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the agreement is Juventus’ tactical effort to accomplish their main goal for the forthcoming season, which is to prevent a probable Champions League exclusion next year. The team has effectively forfeited its participation in the third continental competition by renunciating qualification for the recently introduced UEFA Conference League.
Juventus was penalized as a result of the infamous “Capital Gains Case,” in which the club’s executives inflated the value of their players during player transfers. The manipulation served to sustain economic stability and ensure adherence to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. The club attempted to balance its financial records by falsely inflating or deflating player values in order to avoid being penalized for breaking the Financial Fair Play rules.
After voluntarily agreeing with UEFA, Juventus will miss out on the Conference League this season. As at now, Juventus will focus on domestic competitions and ensure they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Without a doubt, Juventus’ exclusion from European competition in the forthcoming season will have a significant effect on the club’s finances and exposure. However, it is the right call since they would have missed out on Champions League football if they qualify for it this season and are found guilty.
