Pep Guardiola Hails Kevin De Bruyne For An Incredible Performance Against Liverpool

In Manchester City’s 3-2 EFL Cup victory against Liverpool, Kevin De Bruyne proved he is “unstoppable” while playing with “this fire inside,” according to Pep Guardiola.

When Belgium was ousted from the World Cup in the group round earlier this month, De Bruyne was far from his spectacular best. But the midfielder’s first game back in City on Thursday served as a reminder of his extraordinary abilities.

In a thrilling cup match, Kevin de Bruyne assisted Erling Haaland and Nathan Ake while generating a game-high five opportunities overall at the Etihad Stadium.

“Kevin, when he plays with this fire inside of him, he finds himself this fire… what a player,” manager Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“How many years is Kevin here? Seven, eight years? I think so. There’s so many things. He’s an absolute legend.

“Always I push him to find this fire. In important games, when he has this, he’s unstoppable.”
