- La Liga president Javier Tebas has had his say about the situation
The controversy erupted after Rubiales was seen kissing Jennifer Hermoso following Spain’s World Cup win in 2023. Rubiales also faced criticism for making inappropriate gestures during matches.
Tebas criticized Rubiales for his actions, accusing him of tarnishing the dignity of Spain. He emphasized that the behavior not only undermined the players’ respect but also reflected poorly on the country. The backlash has extended beyond the football community, with the Spanish government launching an investigation into Rubiales’ actions.
Tebas stated on social media that “no opportunism or political hypocrisy justifies that the image of Spain has been represented by a madman touching his genitals, forcing kisses, carrying players like a sack and touching (Hermoso) inappropriately at such an important moment.”
Despite Rubiales’ denial of any wrongdoing, Tebas’ condemnation adds a significant voice to the criticism. The incident continues to draw attention and debate as it unfolds.
