Latest Chelsea News: Chelsea’s academy staff are prepared to quit if Chelsea offloads more academy players
In the forthcoming transfer window, Chelsea will probably face a major purge in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Chelsea will need to balance the finances after spending about £600 million on new acquisitions since Todd Boehly took over the club. As a result, is reported that some academy players could depart the club.
However, according to The Times, employees at the Cobham academy might “consider their positions” at the team if such changes are made. Mason Mount is one of the players who may depart Chelsea this summer as a result of the impasse in negotiations for a new deal.
Chelsea believes that the hiring of Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager will convince Mount to stay. Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are more academy graduates who may go. Most of the current academy players in the Chelsea first team barely get playing time, and the players themselves may be looking to leave the club in search of more playing time.
When Levi Colwill, another player from Chelsea’s academy, returns from his loan stint at Brighton, Chelsea have no intention to sell him. They are now ranked 12th in the Premier League, making it appear doubtful that they would make it to the European football tournament. The squad has six games remaining to save their season, but interim manager Frank Lampard has yet to record a victory since rejoining the team.
Chelsea have already made some signings that are expected to join in the summer. These include RB Leipzig star, Christopher Nkunku and Lyon right-back Malo Gusto.
