Latest Chelsea News: Several reports claim that Mason Mount will extend his deal with the Blues

There is growing optimism within Chelsea that Mason Mount will commit his future to the team and reject Liverpool’s approach, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation. The English international and the Blues have been in contract negotiations, but so far no deal has been reached.

Mauricio Pochettino will soon be named the next Chelsea manager, giving fans at Stamford Bridge optimism that Mount would stay with the team. As part of their contract discussions, Chelsea also offered Mount more first-team involvement and a crucial position in the side.

This summer, it is rumoured that the 24-year-old would be the subject of offers from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich, among others. The manager of Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel, is reportedly pleading with the Bayern board to engage in a bidding war so that he can be reunited with him.

According to reports, Manchester City and Newcastle United have dropped out of the running to capture Mount, despite Liverpool being the favourites to recruit him if he decides to leave Chelsea this summer.

The player’s pay demands, who wanted to be paid on par with the club’s highest earners, were the main bone of contention in Mount’s contract discussions. Chelsea, on the other hand, has been attempting to enact a more stringent pay system.

A number of new terms, including goal incentives and appearance payments, have been added to the contract since Chelsea’s first offer of a contract worth £100,000 per week. The most recent iteration of the deal has moved Mount’s pay considerably closer to those of top earners at the club like Reece James.
