Latest Leeds United News: Javi Gracia is set to be fired with 68-year-old Sam Allardyce reportedly close to replacing him
Javi Gracia, who has been in charge of Leeds United for 12 games now has reportedly been sacked according to a report from Football Insider. It is reported that the 50-year-old was at the training grounds this morning but has departed.
Gracia was brought to help Leeds United fight and avoid relegation; however, things did not go as expected when he was appointed. Leeds performance was very poor in April as they managed just a draw from five games, while losing the remaining four. The worse part is that they conceded 18 goals in the process. Although they managed to score in each of those games, tallying five goals, their general performance has been subpar.
In Gracia’s 12 games in charge, he managed just 3 wins, 2 draws and 7 defeats. This has placed Leeds United 17th on the Premier League table with 30 points. They are above the relegation zone with just a goal differential.
It was also reported that Sporting director, Victor Orta is also set to leave the club after conducting poor transfer businesses this summer.
A report from The Daily Mail claims that former Leeds United manager, Sam Allardyce is set to takeover; however, it seems he is not the only one in contention for the position. Lee Bowyle, an ex-midfielder for Leeds United is also in the running. However, according to reports, Sam Allardyce is in pole position to be appointed.
The 68-year-old has an excellent background, having worked as a manager and coach for 13 different teams throughout the course of his career. As he has done with groups like Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers, and Sunderland, Allardyce is particularly renowned for his capacity to assist clubs in avoiding relegation.
Since failing to stop West Brom from being relegated in 2021, Allardyce has been unemployed. In the games left in the season, he now has the chance to have an impact on the Whites and push them up the Premier League standings if he is appointed. This might seem a bit difficult because Leeds United’s remaining four games are against Manchester City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Tottenham.
