Latest Leeds United news: Sam Allardyce claims Leeds does not have enough quality to win the relegation battle

According to manager Sam Allardyce, Leeds United’s squad lacks enough players to compete for survival in the Premier League. This was evident in their recent 3-1 defeat to West Ham United. As a result, Leeds is currently in a dangerous position in the relegation zone and will face Tottenham Hotspur in their final game of the season at home.

Leeds is currently behind Everton by two points and ahead of Leicester City by one point, who still have two games left to play. In the first half, Leeds took the lead with a goal from Rodrigo by putting crosses into West Ham’s box and picking up the second ball. However, they did not perform well in the second half and could have lost by a larger margin.

“We have to look at ourselves and say if we do win next week and do miraculously stay in the league, we have a long way to go in terms of quality in the squad,” Allardyce told Sky Sports.

“The first XI really show up but when we needed that squad, they haven’t quite shown the impact. I may be being unkind to them but it is only what my very experienced eyes are seeing at the moment.”

“We have to keep going, we have to lift the spirits for next week, they have to accept the criticism, it is constructive criticism.”

Allardyce expressed satisfaction with Leeds’ impressive performance in the first half on Sunday, during which they managed to equalize at 1-1. However, their momentum was disrupted in the second half after losing their striker Patrick Bamford to injury just before the break, resulting in a significant drop in their performance.

“First half opportunities galore but not enough quality. Second half we needed to defend better and wait for our opportunities to take but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.”

“The West Ham players showed better ability in the final third than we did.”

Allardyce is uncertain if Bamford will be available for the crucial match against Tottenham.
