Latest Liverpool FC News: United’s win against Chelsea on Thursday meant Liverpool get to play Europa League next season

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah expressed disappointment over the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in seven seasons.

Manchester United secured the final spot in the Premier League top four, joining Manchester City, Arsenal, and Newcastle as England’s representatives in the elite club competition next season.

Liverpool’s dip in form this season, after coming close to a quadruple last year, resulted in a late-season rally that was too little, too late. Despite a 10-game unbeaten run, Liverpool only secured fifth place and Europa League football next season.

Salah, who scored 30 goals in all competitions this season, expressed devastation over the outcome on his social media channels.

“There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.”

“We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.”

Liverpool will not participate in the Champions League for the first time since Salah became a member of the team in 2017. Nevertheless, he put an end to any rumors about leaving by agreeing to a new three-year deal at Anfield last year.
