Latest on Manchester United News: Marcus Rashford was pictured in training ahead of United’s return leg against Sevilla
Marcus Rashford, Manchester United’s top scorer this season, has returned to team training after a groin problem caused him to miss several recent games. Rashford had to be taken off in the latter stages of their 2-0 victory over Everton on April 8th after sustaining the injury. He subsequently missed United’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla and was absent from their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

However, Rashford was back training with the team during an open training session to the media before their second leg against Sevilla on Thursday. In addition to Rashford, several other players returned to the fold, including Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Marcel Sabitzer, who had been dealing with their own respective injuries. However, Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane were still unavailable.
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is expected to provide a full update on the state of his squad during a press conference on Wednesday.
During Ten Hag’s debut season at Old Trafford, Rashford has been their most prolific scorer, rediscovering his best form and taking his game to new heights after a career-worst 2021/22 campaign. He has scored 28 goals in all competitions for United this season, with Bruno Fernandes the only other United player to reach double figures with 10 goals.

“Yeah, it’s the truth,” Ten Hag admitted Rashford’s importance to the team.
“But also we know other players can score as well: Bruno, Antony scored a couple of goals, Jadon Sancho can score, Marcel Sabitzer can score. We have many more players across the squad who can score. What you want as a squad is that you have two players who can score more than 12 or 15 goals a season.”
Since Rashford’s last goal in the 1-0 victory over Brentford at the start of April, Manchester United have scored six goals. Other players have contributed to the team’s scoring output, including Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Antony, and Diogo Dalot, who have all scored one goal each. Marcel Sabitzer also scored twice in last week’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla. This highlights the importance of a collective team effort to share the scoring burden and avoid over-reliance on any individual player.
