Latest on Manchester United News: Erik ten Hag has voiced out for more investment in the upcoming summer transfer window
Erik ten Hag has urged for increased funding in the club to enable them to compete for championships following their third-place finish in the Premier League this season.
The team secured third place with 75 points, having rallied from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 in their final league game on Sunday.
The Old Trafford club, who were victorious in the League Cup in February, have an opportunity to increase their collection of trophies as they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final this Saturday.
“We are in the right direction, but we are not there where we have to be, there’s still a long way to go, there’s potential in this team and individual players,” Ten Hag told reporters on Sunday.
“We showed during the season we made progress, that’s a compliment to the players and the coaches, we worked really hard, but we have to make an investment.”
“The club knows if you want to play top four, compete for trophies in this tough league then you have to invest otherwise you don’t have a chance because other clubs will do.”
The most recent time that United became champions of the league was during the 2012-13 season, when Alex Ferguson was their manager.
