Leicester City have announced the appointment of Willy Caballero, a former goalkeeper for Manchester City and Chelsea, as the assistant manager to Enzo Maresca.
Caballero, who previously played for Argentina, spent three seasons with City before moving to Chelsea, where he spent four years at Stamford Bridge.
Caballero will begin his inaugural coaching role following an 18-month period with Southampton.
“Thanks to Caballero for his service during his time with the club. The keeper has joined LCFC (Leicester) as assistant manager following the expiry of his SaintsFC contract,” Southampton said in a post on Twitter.
The fifth member to join Maresca’s support team will be the winner of the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League, following a playing career that spanned over twenty years.
Maresca recently left his position as an assistant coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who won the treble, to sign a three-year contract with Leicester. Leicester’s Championship season will commence on August 6th with a home match against Coventry City.
