Messi’s father says that Lionel Messi to Al Hilal speculations are not true

Lionel Messi to Al Hilal has not been agreed yet, with the World Cup Winner’s father stating that nothing will be decided before the season ends

Following speculations on Tuesday linking the PSG forward with a move to the Middle East, Lionel Messi’s father has stated that his son has neither “signed or agreed” to a deal to play in Saudi Arabia next season.

Messi’s future at PSG has come under a lot of discussion lately after the Ligue 1 club suspended him for travelling to Saudi Arabia and skipping a training session.

Messi’s relocation to Saudi Arabia was described as “done deal” by French media on Tuesday. The 35-year-old was reportedly completing contract details before signing, however. But it appears that’s not the case.

“There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made before Lionel finishes the league (season) with PSG,” Messi’s father Jorge said in a statement on Instagram.

“Once the season is over it will be time to analyse and see what is out there, and then make a decision…

“We can assure you that there is nothing with anyone. Neither verbal, nor signed, nor agreed, and there will not be until the end of the season.”

After last week’s apology to PSG and his teammates, Messi started working out again on Monday. A source close to the Argentine captain told Reuters that the World Cup winner, who turns 36 next month, had turned down a contract extension at PSG and had instead received a formal offer to play for the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal next season.

The oil-rich country named Messi its tourism ambassador last year, and in May 2022, he paid a visit to Jeddah. When he faced Cristiano Ronaldo in a friendly game with PSG in January against a team of Saudi League stars, he was back in action.
