Tahith Chong has joined newly promoted side, Luton Town
Luton Town Football Club has secured the services of Tahith Chong, the former Manchester United youth prospect, in a move from Birmingham City. The transfer fee remains undisclosed, and Chong joins Luton as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Premier League after earning promotion from the Championship last season.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder made his move to Birmingham City last summer on a permanent deal, following a successful loan spell at St. Andrew’s during the 2021-22 season. Chong’s time at Birmingham saw him make 61 appearances, scoring five goals and providing eight assists.
Expressing his excitement about joining Luton, Chong emphasized the family-oriented nature of the club. He noted the unity and togetherness displayed by Luton on the pitch, which is indicative of the club’s family atmosphere. Chong believes that this unity will be crucial during challenging times, as every club faces adversity. By sticking together as a family, they can overcome any obstacles that come their way.
During his tenure at Manchester United, Chong made 16 first-team appearances. Additionally, he gained valuable experience during loan spells at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge. The talented Dutch player brings versatility and attacking prowess to Luton Town, and his addition to the squad will undoubtedly enhance their options in the Premier League.
Chong’s signing marks the third acquisition for Luton this summer, following the arrivals of Chiedozie Ogbene from Rotherham United and Mads Andersen from Barnsley. Manager Rob Edwards is assembling a competitive squad to compete in the top flight of English football.
