Man City transfer news: Pep Guardiola is looking at the possibility of signing Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney to strengthen his fullback positions
Manchester City is reportedly interested in acquiring Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney during the forthcoming transfer window, according to recent claims from Football Insider. Tierney has apparently surfaced as a transfer target for the club, and Pep Guardiola has reportedly cited full-back positions as important areas that need reinforcements.

Since Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Arsenal last summer, Tierney’s playing time has been significantly reduced, and it is rumoured that the Scotland international is open to moving in search of a new challenge. Newcastle and Aston Villa are reportedly also keeping an eye on his status, in addition to Manchester City.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been clear about his wish to keep Tierney at the club, despite any potential interest from rival teams. He never acknowledged the prospect of the 25-year-old leaving, while consistently expressing his great hopes for him.
Although it is widely believed that Tierney won’t be staying at the Emirates Stadium this summer, Manchester City is reportedly looking into the terms of a possible trade. The transfer money necessary to gain his services will be one of the deciding reasons; Arsenal is said to value the full-back at about £30 million.
Following Zinchenko’s departure to Arsenal, and Cancelo’s later departure to Bayern, City have four fullbacks. However, out of the four, only two are well established (Walker and Ake) with the other two gradually picking up to fully complement the first team.

Tierney has made just five Premier League starts this season out of his 31 appearances across all leagues, totaling 1,285 minutes. He has made a total of 118 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club in 2019 after joining Celtic for £25 million. Between Newcastle and Manchester City, Tierney might get more of first team action if he signs with The Magpies; current left-back Burn is usually preferred in a more central role.
